SONG OF THE DAY 11/30/11: “A Day In The Life” by Jeff Beck

DESCRIPTION: Although covering songs seems like it would be easy, it’s actually one of the hardest things to do because more often than not, covers turn out horrible. There is a general rule that one must follow if he or she does wish to cover songs, and that is never to cover 1) Led Zeppelin 2)The Beatles 3) Areatha Franklin 4) Anyone else/ any other band who has perfected a distinct sound. However, Jeff Beck (classic rock guitar master mind/genius) and Eric Clapton of course broke all the rules, and succeeded indefinitely. Covering The Beatles is NOT an easy task, but these rock gods make it look like a breeze. This song has to be one of my all time favorite covers, ever. My heart melted the first time I heard it, and I hope yours does the same. Seriously, even if you don’t like loud music, turn this song up as loud as the speakers will allow. You won’t be sorry. Long live the beauty of rock and roll!
